Brownies on a budget

It's true what they say. The best things in life really are free....or very cheap. These brownies are the perfect ending to a romantic meal, a great accompaniment to a summery picnic or to enjoy with friends for afternoon tea. However you have them they won't last long, mine don't even get chance to cool down before they get devoured. I used raspberries because they were on offer at the time but you could use anything you like. You could put Maltesers in the mixture instead of the raspberries and chocolate, or nuts, just experiment with them!

200g dark chocolate (I used Lidl's own 30p a bar)
100g white chocolate
125g raspberries (These were 99p on offer at the time)
150g plain flour sifted
125g sugar
150g butter
3 eggs beaten
1 tsp baking powder

Pre heat the oven to 180 and grease a square 20cm oven dish
Melt the dark chocolate and butter together in a bowl over a pan of boiling water
Stir in the sugar and add the beaten eggs a bit at a time

Add to the mixture the sifted flour and baking powder and stir in

Add all but a few squares of the smashed up white chocolate pieces (this can be melted and poured on top afterwards or you can just put it all in if you're not bothered about decorating them)
Place the raspberries into the mix (again you can save some for decoration if you wish)

Once the mixture is combined pour it into the oven proof dish and bake for 35 minutes or until firm on top

Leave to cool for 30 minutes, I know it's hard I understand the struggle but you must resist!!
If you are decorating with chocolate melt it just before you turn the brownies out onto a chopping board

They should be nice and chewy and gooey. Yummy.
